Abdulmumeen Hamid

I am HAMID Abdulmumeen Amao from Kwara State, Nigeria. I was awarded the B.Sc. Honours degree in Chemistry (Second Class Upper Division), in the Department of Chemistry, University of Ilorin, Nigeria in 2003. I proceeded to the University of Ibadan, for Postgraduate studies in Chemistry between 2005 and 2006, a programme I successfully completed with the award of M.Sc. degree in Organic Chemistry (Natural Products) in 2006. My doctoral (Ph.D) study was also carried out at the Department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan and I completed the programme and obtained the Ph.D degree (Ph.D Topic: Isolation of diosgenin from Smilax kraussiana Meisn ex. Krauss and synthesis of its derivatives as anticancer agents) in Chemistry (Natural Products and Synthetic Organic Chemistry) in 2015. 

I had the opportunity to use TWAS/CSIR Postgraduate fellowship (Sandwich), India during my Ph.D programme, between 2012 and 2013, under the supervision of Dr. Arvind Singh Negi, Medicinal Chemistry Unit, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants CIMAP, Lucknow, India.

Also, I enjoyed TWAS/CSIR Postdoctoral fellowship under Dr. P. Srihari of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, India, January to May, 2018.

I joined the services of Barakah Community Secondary School as Education Officer ll, under Kwara State Teaching Service Commision, Ilorin Kwara State, Nigeria in 2007. I proceeded to the Department of Chemistry, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, as an Assistant Lecturer in 2009. I have been making steady progress in my career, having risen through the rank to become a Senior Lecturer in 2020. I always strive for excellence and precision at all times in my positions and scientific development. If I am given this opportunity in your reputable Institution, I would serve diligently and efficiently by teaching and doing other assigned assignments.

I got PhD-Organic Chemistry at the department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, 2015
