Amani Al Rumaih

Materials science and engineering master's student at Northwestern University with a minor in engineering management. I have a background in research and team projects including working on additive manufacturing and 3D printers and nano materials. I'm also interested in metals and semi-conductors. 

Transdisc Nano Metals Research Team (TNMRT) at Colorado School of Mines – Research Assistant              

• Sample preparation of nanostructured titanium screws and magnesium bars used for medical applications. 
• Collaborated with a PhD student to design and recreate schematic representations of crystal orientations for different textures including copper, brass, and goss.

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) – Research Intern                                                                     

• Online Research Internship: Radiation on Hard Silicon Sensors (Hybrid Pixel Detectors).
• Wrote a code to read both the humidity and temperature sensors and converting ADC values.
• Connected the device to Wi-Fi, which uses ESP8266 chip in an Arduino core environment.
• Attended extensive lecture program focusing on theoretical and experimental particle physics, engineering, and computing.

University of Washington, Seattle – Research Intern                                                                                                                 

• Research Internship: Experiments in Multiphysics control of atomization and turbulent dispersionin droplet-laden flows.
• Assessed and controlled the laser power and the pressure of the experiment set-up.
• Collected and analyzed the droplet size data.
• Wrote a code in python to present the data and determine the change in droplet size as a function of pressure and flow rate.
