حول Atif Mukhtar:

I am a graduate of the University of Khartoum with a BA (Honors) in English Language & literature and Psychology. I also have a CELTA from the UK, in addition to an ELT Certificate from the British Council in Jeddah and many other on-the-job training and professional development courses. Currently, I am working with TUV Rhineland at Saudi Arabian Drilling Academy SADA in Saudi Arabia’s main oil and gas area, Eastern Region, Abqaiq. I had been working with the Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic SPSP from November 2012 until April 2021. I also worked at Ibn Khaldun International Schools-Riyadh as a student counselor and English teacher recruited by Obeikan Education and under their sponsorship. I worked with Bell Educational Trust on their project at King Saud University, Preparatory Year Program (PYP) from October 2008 to July 2011. Before that, I had been teaching English for 12 years at Al-Anjal Private Schools in Jeddah; teaching all ages starting from primary to secondary schools in addition to leading teachers at Intermediate School.

I am one of the teachers (Most of them are colleagues who worked on Obeikan/Bell- KSU project) who established Ibn Khaldun International School in the academic year 2011-2012. I had been working as an English teacher and a student counselor. The medium structure of the counseling work was English.  I also had other administrative contributions to the school such as examinations administration, interviewing new teachers, class observations and Extra-curricular activities coordination.

King Saud is the oldest university in Saudi Arabia and one of the most rapidly on-the-run. I worked for three years at the Preparatory College teaching general English as well as ESP and EAP. Throughout this period, I got my hands on every single detail of the program bedsides effective supervision and on-the-job training courses. In addition to teaching ordinary classes, I instructed students on self-learning and continuous assessment programs. King Saud University was equipped with the latest educational technology; we had smart classrooms equipped with e-podiums and smart boards.

Al-Anjal is one of the leading private schools not only in Jeddah, but all over the Kingdom. At the time, Al-Anjal could be considered as a semi-international school (Now has its international section) as the English language program was delivered to its students from Kindergarten stage to secondary, in addition to delivering other subjects with English as medium of instruction, such as math and science. The English Department was a multi-national environment which had teachers from Egypt, South Africa, Sudan, UK and US. The focus was on selected course books rather than the government's. I taught course books such as New Interchange, Headway, Way Ahead, Green Light, etc. In addition, the English program included preparing our students for the Cambridge tests KET, PET and FCE. I had been involved in this for my entire period at the school. I took a three-month school-paid ELT training course at the British Council in Jeddah particularly for this purpose. I was also the English Language Coordinator at the Intermediate Section for not less than eight years.

As my minor field of specialization is psychology, I also have good experience as a student counselor/advisor and academic/learning counselor; I was a member of the school committee for students’ guidance and was also a member of the Teachers-Parents Committee. I have excellent experience in Extra-curricular activities especially cultural and other non-academic activities. I am also familiar with all British and American curricula taught at international schools in Saudi Arabia.

Understanding of the Saudi culture, the Saudi educational system and the Saudi student has always been a milestone and a crucial fact beyond all these accomplishments.
