Research and Development Intern Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI) 10/2020 - 04/2022, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. Timeline : 10 / 2020 - 1 / 2021 , 06 / 2021 - 04 / 2022 Under the guidance of Dr. Murugan Veerapandian, my research focused on the modification of titanium implant surfaces to improve the biological response of osteoblast cells and their antibacterial activity. Also, my work included: Researching and analysing orthopaedic implants to investigate the root cause of failure. Fabrication of polymeric scaffolds by electrospinning and 3D printing techniques Synthesis of nanomaterials: Graphene oxide by a modified Hummer's method, ZnO nanowires by two methods (VLS in a tubular oven at 900°C and Hydrothermal grow at low temperature), ZnO nanoparticles, TiO2 nanotubes by anodization, Electrodeposited Iridium Oxide films on stainless steel electrodes, Hydroxyapatite electrochemical synthesis, Electrospun nanofibers of different ceramic-polymeric composites. Polymer synthesis by electrochemical and chemical methods. Electrochemical characterization techniques such as Cyclic voltammetry, chrono-amperometry, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. Fabrication of SERS substrates (Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy). In this case, we developed substrates with ZnO nanowires grown on Si and decorated with silver nanoparticles of different sizes. Materials physical-chemical characterization: SEM, TEM, XRD, EDS, Raman spectroscopy, UV-VIS. Material biological characterization: antibacterial assays against Staphylococcus aureus and adhesion, proliferation, mineralization assays using human cell line.
