From the early years of my Education journey, I have always been intrigued by the whole concept of one learning and the theory behind the idea of education from many perspectives. Through my years of being a student and going through the education system in the UK was a wholesome experience which exposed me to both positive and weak spots within the education curriculum and teaching methods in the UK. Personally, I have experienced how educational materials developed as I continued onto further studies, thus having to change my own learning styles. This motivated me to recognise which teaching techniques worked for me as a student in order to keep up with the increasingly demanding workload. As my journey in education supported me in realising the significance of teachers positively impacting their students' learning attitudes, I have a lot to give back with the combination of my educational journey, studies and work experience.
Choosing to pursue a career in teaching was a decision that came quite effortlessly and naturally to me from an early stage in choosing my career path. I have always been quite passionate about education, thus why I have completed a bachelors degree in Education Studies. Prior to undertaking my degree, I had always been intrigued by the underlying structures to ones learning, especially in children.
Due to my experiences of working with different teaching supply agencies for the past few years, I am well equipped for teaching all year groups in a primary school age range. This teaching supply agency did not only give me the opportunity of working with different primary schools and age groups, but rather it enhanced my confidence in teaching and learning from like-minded professionals in schools. In terms of teaching specific subjects, I have mainly been covering classroom teachers, meaning I was teaching all subjects across the British education curriculum.
Studying and working within the teaching department has significantly impacted the types of skills and qualities I have recognised within myself and improved on. Amongst these many skills are resilience and adaptability; I believe these are great qualities for professionals in this career path to have as you will face many obstacles and difficulties in life, thus needing the ability to bounce back from said setbacks. Working in a classroom with 25+ students means that you need to constantly adapt and cater to every student in the class in terms of communication and teaching styles.
My desire to teach grew from an early stage in my own educational journey as a student. I saw the level of impact teachers had on their students and how they leave a lasting effect on ones' attitude to learning. I have always been the type of student who always yearned for a teacher that is genuine about the education they provide for their students. My love for teaching stemmed from a young age as my school teachers were very welcoming and really supported me in my learning. This made me realise that teaching was a career path that I wanted to go down as I want to motivate and encourage young learners to keep going and support their learning whilst prioritising their mental, emotional and physical health and well-being. I believe that teaching is an enriching career where I can have a first-hand impact on tomorrow's future.
