    AtkinsRealis are currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Land Development Type projects. Whilst principally a project management role, the role will also require technical and design management. The appropriate candidate will therefore likely come from a technical background with a degree and also working experience in one of master planning, urban design, transport planning, highways, utilities or civil engineering.

    As Assistant Project Manager, you will assist the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with the project and design management of a portfolio of Land Development design schemes, from concept master plan stage, through to infrastructure and public realm detailed design. You will oversee and manage several design teams (including but not limited to master planning, transport planning, landscaping, highways, utilities and specialist subconsultants) across several geographies, face to face and remotely to ensure the collaborative approach results in successful delivery of the scope of works on time and budget.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum 5 years' working experience with solid technical understanding of land development disciplines (master planning, urban design, transport planning, landscaping, highways, utilities, civil engineering)
    • Degree in a related field (master planning, urban design, transport planning, landscaping, highways, utilities, civil engineering)
    • Software – working knowledge of MS Project/P6, MS Office and one or more of – AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks, utilities design software (e.g. StormCAD, SewerCAD, EPANet), InDesign, Illustrator, Rhino, SketchUp
    • In-depth understanding of Local Authority Planning, Design, Submission and Approval requirements

    Responsibilities:

    You will be responsible for at least the following areas and duties in your role:

    • Manage multi-functional design teams, including performing technical reviews to ensure coordinated technical deliverables aligning with scope and quality requirements.
    • Produce and maintain project schedules using your planning experience and ability to utilise relevant scheduling software (MS Project, P6)
    • Management of Project Initiation and Planning phases, including Project Management Plan, Design Management Plan, Stakeholder Management Plan, creation of WBS, Project Programme and Budget
    • Manage the relationships between all project stakeholders to facilitate effective communications and outcomes. Ensure status of stakeholder liaison is recorded and regularly updated
    • Risk Management, including utilising and maintaining relevant risk management tools (risk register)
    • Financial Management, including invoicing, budget and management and monitoring, EVM
    • Bid Management, including scope, commercial, programme, cost estimation, proposal writing
    • Progress Monitoring, including maintaining relevant schedules (project programme, progress trackers), chairing and leading progress meeting, recording and monitoring and following up on actions, taking accurate minutes of meeting
    • Ensuring implementation and compliance with Atkins standards and Business Management System.
    • Alignment with the Atkins Career Journey – Project Management guidance document and the latest updates in Atkins PM standards
    • Mentoring and development of graduates

    Qualifications:

    • Degree qualification in a related discipline (master planning, urban design, transport planning, landscaping, highways, utilities, civil engineering)
    • Project management qualification (PMI, APM etc) is preferable
