We deepened our commitmentto combat the impact on climate change in the built environmentwhen we launched Gensler Cities Climate Challenge (GC3) in 2019.This is our pledge to meet an ambitious goal: the elimination ofall greenhouse gases from our work by Your Role As a Senior Design Manager atGensler you will have a successful track record of managing allphases of projects and will have overall responsibility for clientsatisfaction quality control and financial performance. You willdeploy resources to ensure that the work process flows smoothly andact as the primary liaison between the team and client. Grow your project management expertise while workingon trendsetting design projects across a variety of practice areasand industries. What You Will Do Client Engagement
    • Implement oneor more client projects through the leadership of projectteams.
    • Grow business for base building andinteriors projects within various Practice Areas.
    • Prepare project proposals and negotiate contracts andfees.
    Leadership
    • Provide leadership tothe team and client by communicating project objectives contractscope terms and schedule.
    • Enable the projectteams to reach their individual potential and maintain a positiveteam environment.
    • Collaborate with your teamwith an open door policy.
    • Demonstrateeffective written and verbal communication skills.
    Projects
    • Responsible for both managingprojects and client satisfaction by focusing on the project processservice/delivery work environment project documentation andbuilding clients trust and loyalty in Gensler.
    • Manage scheduling budgets staffing and project setupwith clients subcontractors vendors and contractors.
    Financial
    • Monitor budgets andprofitability targets for your projects (e.g work plan schedulefees billings and collections).
    • Overseebilling and fee management to ensure all financial activities areconsistent with Gensler policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for accounts receivable discretionaryexpenses expense report approvals and productivityprojections.
    General
    • Work closelywith other Design Managers Finance Human Resources and OfficeDirectors.
    • Demonstrate dignity respect andprofessional attitude.
    • Build and improveexternal firm image by active participation in appropriateorganizations (AIA RDI NCIDQ etc.) and maintain contact withcurrent and potential clients.
    • Participate inoffice meetings collaborate with Studio Directors Office Managementand staff.
    • Develop a strategy for BestPractice integration client satisfaction and cross studiointegration.
    • Focus on global relationshipbuilding recruiting and service integration.
    • Be an advocate for Gensler sustainability commitments internallyand externally.
    • Make sustainability anintegral part of every project.
    • Defineproject sustainability targets in collaboration with the client andthe project team at the start of each project.
    • Understand clients ESG goals and work with project teamstowards achieving them.
    • Support and encourageteam members to pursue sustainability learning.
    Your Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree in ArchitectureInterior Design or related field.
    • 10 years ofrelated project management experience on a range of designprojects. 15 years of total experience within the fields ofarchitecture or design.
    • Professional licenseor certification preferred.
    • Experiencenegotiating project scope fees managing project financialperformance and ensuring fiscal responsibility forprojects.
    • Experience with the full projectlifecycle through postoccupancy.
    • Knowledge ofbuilding codes standards and building structures.
    • Basic technical understanding of architectural designinterior and furniture design.
    • Experiencewith project management software such as MS Project aplus.
    • Knowledge in sustainable designprinciples required.
    • LEED WELL Fitwel LFA orother rating systems accreditation preferable.
    • Understand key principles for leading and achieving netzero projects.
    • Capacity to drivesustainability focused discussions with clients andteams.
    • Demonstrated commitment tosustainability and sustainable building practicesrequired.
    • Previous experience in sustainabledesign projects preferred. At least one project of the candidateportfolio should showcase this focus. Especially built projectswith LEED Living Building Challenge WELL Building Standard Fitweland /or Net Zero Building certification.
    Your Design TechnologyQualifications Essential
    • Familiarity with the BIM project lifecycle through designconstruction and operational phases.
    • Understanding of BIM deliverables and terminology incontracts.
    • Good knowledge and experience withcollaboration within the BIM context including cloudbased markupsconsultant coordination and clash detection.
    • Experience in establishing and managing BIM teams for projectdesign and delivery.
    • Experience in managingdesign teams with Revit/Rhino/Grasshopper skills.

    Desirable
    • Basicunderstanding and familiarity with realtime rendering processes andmaterial creation & management within the context ofintegrated BIM and parametric workflows.
    • Understanding of the capabilities and application of InformationManagement tools such as Aconex Asite Newforma etc.
