    Job description:

    Job Purpose

    The role of the Software Licensing Manager is to support, manage, and administer contracts for software and application services and products across the organization. This includes overseeing technology spending, managing a repository of applications, and issuing Requests for Proposal, Requests for Quote, and Invitations to Bid. The Software Licensing Manager will also define and facilitate communication between the enterprise and its providers to deliver software and applications according to plan and within budget, and to ensure licensing compliance.     Qualifications:
    • Proven experience in software licensing and contract management.
    • Strong knowledge of software licensing models, contract negotiation, and compliance requirements.
    • Familiarity with software asset management (SAM) practices and tools.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Professional certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) is desirable.
    • Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to software licensing is a plus
    Key Accountability Areas

    Responsibilities:


    • Contract Management: Manage the entire lifecycle of software and application contracts, including negotiation, drafting, execution, and renewal. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate contract records.

    • Licensing Compliance: Monitor software license agreements to ensure compliance with terms, conditions, and usage restrictions. Develop and implement processes to track software licenses, conduct periodic audits, and resolve any licensing discrepancies.

    • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage vendor performance. Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to evaluate vendor proposals and contracts.

    • Technology Spending Oversight: Monitor and control technology spending related to software licenses and applications. Analyze usage patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize software license utilization across the organization.

    • Procurement Process: Issue and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quote (RFQs), and Invitations to Bid (ITBs) for software and application services. Evaluate vendor responses, conduct vendor assessments, and recommend the selection of software providers.

    • Application Repository Management: Maintain a centralized repository of software and application information, including license details, version control, and documentation. Ensure the repository is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, legal department, and procurement teams to align software licensing strategies with business objectives. Provide guidance and support to internal teams on licensing requirements and best practices.

    • Compliance Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on software license compliance, usage, and expenditures. Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

    • Usage Analytics: Implement and manage systems and processes to capture and analyze software usage data. Collaborate with IT teams to deploy software monitoring tools and gather relevant usage metrics.

    • Utilization Optimization: Analyze software usage data to identify opportunities for optimizing license utilization and reducing costs. Recommend strategies to maximize the value of software licenses across the organization.

    • Reporting and Insights: Generate reports and provide insights on software usage, license utilization, and cost-saving opportunities. Present findings to stakeholders, including senior management, to support decision-making and budget planning.

    • License Renewals and Upgrades: Track license expiration dates and proactively manage license renewals and upgrades. Work with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and ensure seamless transitions between license versions.

    • Cost Optimization: Collaborate with finance teams to analyze software spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising on business needs. Recommend cost-effective alternatives, such as open-source software or volume licensing agreements

    • Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

    • Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
    • Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

    Business Process Improvements:

    • Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
    • Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
    • Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.
