    About the role

    The QC Chemist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Analytical Testing which will be the contact point for all analytical testing related issue such involving Internal Laboratory (Lab) testing and External Laboratory Testing.

    This position will be liable for the accuracy, prevision and truthful results released from Kerry to customer.

    The successful candidate should have minimum 2 years of working experience in Food industry , as solid experience related to the analytical testing of food samples is essential to be able to take up this role.

    Work Location : 2nd Industrial City - Jeddah
    Key responsibilities

    Operational Activities:

    • Ensure timely analytical testing & reviewing of test results on process and finished goods as per GPDS requirements
    • Complete all Lab reports accurately & present data analysis
    • Validating results of internal lab & verifying results obtained from external lab
    • Attain & maintain complete understanding of lab analysis procedures
    • Author new lab procedure & ensure procedures are periodically revised to reflect the current practice and current level of standards are met
    • Supervise & revise QA and control program results
    • Conduct/ lead lab investigation on lab equipment failure, Out of Trend, Out of Specifications, Document-Correct-Trend and any other Non-Conformance Investigation and formulate effective CAPAs and ensure timely closure of non-conformance and its CAPA items
    • Ensure conformance with government regulations & policies
    • Maintain lab inventory by control in-house stock, reference standards, chemical reagents and consumable to support daily lab operation
    • Write protocol to support method verification & validation
    • Perform Method Validations/ Checks / Verification
    • Supervise Good Lab Practices (GLP) in Lab
    • Carry out calibration & maintenance of lab equipment internally & externally with service providers
    • Compile and analyze test information to determine process/equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions
    • Ensure Proficiency testing conducted as per defined frequency
    • Drive the preparedness towards compliance & certification of ISO17025 (Chemical)

    Training:

    • Guide & supervise Lab Technicians to maintain analytical training amongst Lab personnel
    • Conduct training to all relevant technicians (Dryer man) who conduct online testing

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve employees safety, quality, food safety, cost and efficiency
    • Drive resolutions to implement improvement and actively steer a continuous lab improvement culture
    • Participate in root cause analysis & corrective/preventive actions plans on any event that could be caused by/related to analytical issue

    Quality, Compliance, Audit:

    • Ensure practices meet food safety requirements
    • Good understanding of sampling methods, and all lab reference methods and rapid methods used for hygiene and utilities testing.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve all sampling and analytical deviations promptly
    • Ensure lab methods and specification are in accordance to regulatory dossiers, Quality Standards and HSE Standards
    • Ensure tests assigned are performed in a timely manner in compliance to SOPs with necessary Lab Safety Precautions
    • Prepare, support and front internal/external audits
    • Enforce general lab cleanliness, perform and maintain excellent lab housekeeping

    Health & Safety:

    • Protect the safety of all team members through the continuous improvement of safety standards
    • Implement safety & report techniques at lab

    Environment:

    • Follow all safety rules & regulations while meeting the job demands
    • Review all accident and incident investigations with the objective of taking to eliminate future occurrences
    • Continually reduce the impact has on the environment through the reduction of resources use & the reduction of waste generation
    Qualifications and skills


    • Minimum Bachelor s degree in Applied / Analytical Chemistry or related field
    • It is essential that the candidate be a Registered Chemist
    • Minimum 2 years experience in Food industry with experience in a laboratory setting
    • Experience in Analytical Testing required
    • Strong technical knowledge in Food Hygiene standards, HACCP and AIB requirement
    • Experience in ISO 17015 Certification
    • Good initiative, good team player and result oriented
    • Strong leadership with excellent communication skills
    • Able to work in a fast changing and growing global environment where accountability, quality, timeliness are key components
