The Expert Bid Manager leads the end to end process of preparing, coordinating, and submitting competitive bids and proposals for new business opportunities. Acting as the central point of contact for all bid related activities, the role ensures that proposals are delivered on time, meet client requirements, and align with the organization s strategic objectives and profitability targets.
Core Responsibilities:
Bid Strategy & Planning
Analyze tender documents, RFPs, and client specifications to define bid strategy.
Conduct win loss analysis and assess competitive landscape.
Develop bid plans, timelines, and resource allocation models.
Team Coordination & Leadership
Assemble cross functional bid teams (sales, technical, finance, legal, operations).
Lead kick off meetings, assign tasks, and monitor progress against milestones.
Facilitate collaboration and ensure clear communication among stakeholders.
Proposal Development
Draft, edit, and review all proposal content, ensuring compliance with client requirements and internal standards.
Manage the creation of technical, commercial, and legal sections, integrating input from subject matter experts.
Oversee the development of supporting materials such as case studies, CVs, pricing models, and compliance matrices.
Financial Management
Prepare detailed cost estimates, pricing structures, and profitability analyses.
Coordinate with finance to validate cost models and ensure alignment with pricing policies.
Monitor bid budgets and control expenses throughout the bid lifecycle.
Risk & Compliance
Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies within the bid.
Ensure all contractual, regulatory, and security requirements are addressed.
Maintain a repository of bid documentation for audit and future reference.
Quality Assurance & Review
Conduct rigorous internal reviews, including compliance checks, quality assurance, and final approvals.
Implement continuous improvement practices based on feedback and post bid debriefs.
Client Interaction
Serve as the primary liaison with clients during the bid process.
Clarify requirements, respond to queries, and manage any amendments or clarifications.
Reporting & Metrics
Track bid performance metrics (win rate, bid cycle time, profitability) and report to senior management.
Provide insights and recommendations to enhance future bid success.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (Master s preferred).
10+ years of experience in bid management, proposal development, or contract acquisition, preferably in the technology, engineering, or services sectors.
Strong understanding of commercial terms, pricing models, and contract law.
Excellent project management skills with proficiency in bid management tools (e.g., Salesforce CPQ, SharePoint, MS Project).
