    Job Description and Qualifications

    COMPANY PROFILE
    Air Products Qudra (APQ) is a regional development and investment joint venture (JV) between Air Products and Qudra Energy, a subsidiary of Vision Invest. Air Products is a world-leading industrial gases company developing, engineering, building, owning and operating many of the world's largest industrial gas projects.

    NATURE & SCOPE
    This position will provide Machinery Engineering support to ongoing plant operations, projects from development to start up, and will lead asset management/productivity initiatives for all the APQ Middle East Operations Facilities in the Region through the coordination of the activities from the engineers & operations teams stationed at plants.
    The Machinery Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager, provides day to day technical support to the Regional Sites to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role identifies, supports, and executes productivity initiatives for the facilities in the Region. The facilities range across multiple technologies such as Air Separation (ASU), Hydrogen and CO production (HYCO), and CO2.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Safety
    • Provide & maintain a safe work environment for self & others. Employ good housekeeping methods and demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent injuries. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety related activities.
    Technical:
    • Provide engineering evaluation & determinations, issue technical direction & guidance, and oversee inspection & quality assurance initiatives for all aspects of Machinery systems including troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, repair, and test activities.
    • Maintain responsibility for the long-term Machinery planning and support with respect to protective relay programming, operational changes, and preventive maintenance
    • Provide engineering support & guidance during the construction & commissioning of the plants. Maintain accurate documentation for plant's machinery and validate commissioning activities and performance parameters. Monitor quality assurance initiatives including machinery installation & assembly, alignment, cleanliness, integrity, etc.
    • Provide engineering input for development and maintenance of Machinery systems & equipment standards, procedures, best practices, inspection contracts, and contractor selection guidelines.
    • Lead and provide technical support services in the new installation, existing plant modifications, on-going operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for the facilities in the Region. Ensure the activities related meet legal requirements and comply with APQ's and Air Products safety and technical standards.
    • Provide Technical Support to Product Services Team for new installations, existing plant modifications, on-going operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for Air Products joint ventures, sale of equipment and potential new customers in the Region. The support will be provided by either onsite visits, phone support, or from the Process Intelligence Center via mentored monitoring capabilities.
    • Provide technical support and safety leadership for MOC's, OPHR's, and other safety related initiatives in order to drive process safety compliance. Consult APQ process safety personnel as required for additional technical support.
    Operations
    • Ensure the safety of all operations personnel by utilizing the APQ Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, LOTO, Confined Space, etc. The position provides technical support for executing, organizing, and auditing the safety systems, to build the Air Products safety culture into the APQ organization.
    • Provide Machinery engineering support to operations in order to effectively operate the ASU, HYCO, and CO2 facilities in Region to meet the customer's satisfaction on safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility of product supply while in compliance of contractual requirements.
    • Ensure APQ's standards, global best practices for EH &S, productivity, reliability, quality, and overall customer services are met
    • Provide technical guidance, working with the commissioning team, assisting in the commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
    • Maintain alignment with the Operations Plant Managers, Site Leadership and the Business Area to align with asset management opportunities and commercial priorities
    • Establish & maintain a relationship with the local inspection bureau, maintain relevant statutory, regulatory, technology standards, and code information consistent with APQ plant operational objectives
    • Participating in technical reviews, equipment design, installation, operation, and optimizations (productivity) of equipment & systems including validations, Mechanical Integrity and Management of Change along with procedures development & implementations.
    Repair & Maintenance:
    • Establish & maintain close working relationships with operations and maintenance personnel to continuously monitor & evaluate plant Machinery systems & equipment.
    • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Machinery & equipment risk-based maintenance plan. Provide appropriate technical guidance and detailed instructions to schedule, execute, and monitor compliance of plans.
    • Develop and implement inspection & test plans for operation of Machinery systems & equipment during fabrication / installation / repair activities.
    • Provide engineering support and participate / lead incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis. Identify & implement sustainable corrective action(s).
    • Provide value analysis to repair / replace, repair / redesign, and make / buy decisions.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • Engineering graduate (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum preferred) with >10 years of related process automation experience in chemical / refinery / gas plant maintenance / inspection / engineering.
    • Knowledge & understanding with the principles of: Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Safety Instrumented Function (SIF), Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
    • Knowledge of industry codes and standards applicable to Oil and Gas and Refining Industries (API, ISA, NEC / IEC, NFPA, ASME, etc.) and preferably also Saudi Aramco standards and working practices
    • Detailed knowledge and working experience with predictive and reliability-based maintenance methodologies, machinery & rotating equipment engineering, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
    • Experience and knowledge in the technology, design, and operation of Air Separation, HYCO, and CO2 process systems preferred.
    • Demonstrated engineering and technical capabilities & skills.
    • Knowledgeable in Machinery safety, health, and local environmental requirements.
    • A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
    • Able to communicate between management, operations, maintenance, customers.
    • Proficiency in English speaking and writing, Arabic language skills is a plus.
    • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills combined with good communications skills (written and verbal) in English a must.
