    About our client:

    Our Client operates in the Oil and Energy industry, with its headquarters rooted strongly in Saudi Arabia.     Responsibilities:

    • Engages with the R&D organizations to identify and evaluate technology projects for commercialization viability and readiness.
    • Lead evaluation and development of IP licensing and commercialization strategies, including market analysis, commercial models, 'go‐to‐market' and deployment strategies.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with technology teams across business domains
    • Lead execution of commercial deals from 'cradle to grave' i.e. from third party selection through authority approvals, deal structuring, negotiations and agreement execution.
    • Deals will range from strategically important, high value projects to opportunistic technology monetization deals
    • Perform third party due diligence to minimize technology transactions and external licensing risks.
    • Support structuring of JDA's, JV's etc. focused on acceleration and adoption of key technologies within our client operations.
    • Provide support to other TC initiatives that may involve licensing e.g. technology venturing.
    • Deliver regular licensing portfolio update briefings to senior management on progress vs plan.
    • Deliver IP licensing and commercialization training and awareness workshops to our client R&D organizations.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering discipline
    • An MBA or a relevant industry certification (e.g. Certified licensing Professional or CLP) is preferable.

    Essential Experience

    • At least 10 years of experience in one or more of the following IP licensing, technology commercialization or business-related technology roles:
    • Technology licensing or transfer
    • Contract negotiation, preferably involving licenses, JV agreements, customer collaboration, business development or joint development and exploitation of technology
    • Market facing role(s) dealing directly with customers or suppliers
    • Business development involving partners or suppliers
    • Strong background in business focused technology roles such as technical sourcing, customer service, joint development, commercialization of technology
    • Product development, from concept to delivery of a new product into service
    • Intellectual asset management

    Skills should include some (or preferably) all of the following:

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to partners with limited domain experience
    • Ability to innovate, think laterally and overcome barriers
    • Strong interpersonal, networking, influencing and facilitation skills
    • Strong commercial and negotiating skills
    • Ability to work with and preferably lead multi-disciplinary teams
    • Ability to understand complex technologies in scientific or technical fields outside of personal comfort zone
    • Experience in either upstream oil and gas operations, midstream, downstream, chemicals, natural gas distribution, energy services, alternative or renewable energy, engineering and technology innovation.
    • Self-starter, energetic and proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to monetize a strong and growing portfolio of worldwide patent asset
