    Job Purpose / Objective:

    The Safety Coordinator is responsible for preparing safety programs and providing safety related training; and construction location inspection and work place oversight for the Hospital. Work is performed with considerable technical independence under policies and procedures established by an administrative superior. Work is reviewed through observation of results.

    Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

    • Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting. Maintain awareness of Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
    • Monitor adherence to HMG safety program by employees and subcontractors. Prepare and conduct training programs/seminars for supervisors and field employees.
    • Organize and responsible for documentation of trainings.
    • Investigate incidents, injuries and hazards and implement approved control measures. Ensure timely completion of accident/injury reporting to Corporate Office.
    • Coordinate with the purchase, proper use, maintenance, inspection, testing and retirement of necessary safety and personal protective equipment, oversees the investigation, documentation and proper follow-through of accidents or safety related incidents; administering safety awards, recognitions and incentive program.
    • Integrate the department safety/health/risk management policies, procedures and programs.
    • Prepare and updates the Materials Safety Data Sheet documentation of chemicals. Prepare and update the maintenance of up-to-date- inventory and documentation on various hazardous materials stored and used by the department; developing and/or coordinating other safety related projects that may arise.
    • Ensure optimum equipment function and the reporting of all malfunctions.
    • Schedule and manage the periodic testing of fire suppression system and fire alarm system and hospital evaluation and safety equipment. Instruct hospital staff in safe work method, Fire safety training and orientation, fire evacuation drill and training in hospital.
    • Maintain records of all recommendations made and action taken to implement or correct safety and health procedures, accident prevention measures, unsafe practices and health hazards.
    • Observe infection control standards laid down in policy documents, particularly in respect to sterile procedures.
    • Actively participates in the departmental Quality Assurance and in Service programs.
    • Perform all other tasks/duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Education/ Professional Qualification:

    Educational: Bachelor's Degree

    Experience:

    At least 2 years' experience in the same field

    Professional Licensing / Certification / Training:

    Certification: Fire & Safety related
