Job Purpose

The GCP DevOps Engineer is responsible for developing, deploying, migrating, and maintaining the infrastructure and tools necessary to automate the deployment, operation, and monitoring of software systems within the Google cloud environment.

Deployment and Infrastructure Management

• Implement Cloud solutions with a focus on Google cloud architecture framework and Cloud Adoption Framework.
• Migration to GCP from on-prem and other cloud providers.
• Deploy, and manage GCP cloud infrastructure to support software systems, applying DevOps methodologies and using a variety of tools and technologies.
• Create, manage, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for deploying applications, using GCP native tools and 3rd party solutions.
• Automate and manage the infrastructure in GCP using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Google cloud deployment manager or terraform.
• Ensure that the infrastructure aligns with the clients' requirements for scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
• Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration services like GKE to automate the deployment and scaling of applications.
• Implementation architectures and solutions using PaaS, IaaS & DevOps.
• Participate to infrastructure assessments and lead migrations to GCP (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors and provide solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Stay up to date on relevant technologies, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best possible techniques and tools.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws and ensure compliance.
• Play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of various migration projects.
• Create, manage, and deliver all project-related documents, including business cases and success criteria
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, project managers, and stakeholders to gather information and requirements for migration projects.
• Create comprehensive and well-structured project documentation, including business cases, project plans, migration strategies, risk assessments, and success criteria.Organize and maintain a centralized repository of all project documentation, ensuring easy accessibility and version control for the entire project team.
• Work closely with technical experts and subject matter specialists to accurately translate technical information into clear and understandable documentation for non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings and discussions to capture key decisions, action items, and project progress, and translate these into relevant documentation.
• Develop and maintain templates, standards, and guidelines for project documentation, promoting best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with external partners and vendors to collect necessary documentation and integrate it into the project repository.

Job Specification

Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any related field
  
  

Professional Certifications

• GCP Certified: Associate cloud engineer
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• HashiCorp: Terraform associate - preferrable
  
  

Knowledge

• Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Big Query, and Cloud Storage
• Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration
• Programming and coding skills
• Infrastructure areas such as virtual server technologies, Storages, networking, internet protocols, scripting & monitoring tools, and IT Security
