    The School Counsellor plays a pivotal role in promoting student success by providing expert guidance and support. This critical member of the educational team collaborates with all stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive school counselling program, adhering to high standards of professional conduct and ethical principles.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure the safety and security of students, prioritising child protection at all times.
    • Offer social, emotional, and academic counselling to students, both individually and in group sessions, as needed.
    • Support students and families through significant transitions, including school changes and milestone events.
    • Utilise student data to inform effective interventions and counselling services, driving decision-making and progress.

    Responsive Support

    • Participate in crisis management teams as required, providing critical intervention and support during challenging situations.
    • Assume responsibility for managing child protection concerns, ensuring swift and effective response.
    • Refer students and their parents to relevant specialists, programs, or agencies when necessary.

    Ongoing Systemic Support

    • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and families to provide academic, social, and emotional support to students.
    • Deliver information and skills training to parents, staff, and the community to enhance student development and well-being.
    • Conduct in-service training sessions to share expertise and promote best practices among colleagues.

    Counselling Curriculum Delivery

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counselling program, working closely with administrators and counsellors across the district.
    • Foster strong relationships with students through classroom visits, lesson presentations, and active participation in school activities.
    • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure a cohesive and effective counselling curriculum.

    College Counselling

    • Maintain thorough knowledge of university admissions processes worldwide, including US, UK, and other international institutions.
    • Work closely with colleagues to provide information-sharing sessions on university admissions, guiding students and parents throughout the application process.
    • Offer support in crafting university application letters and securing recommendations from teachers.
    • Coordinate regular communication with university representatives, facilitating campus visits and fostering connections with the college community.

    General Expectations

    • Provide supervision to student-led activities or coach/assistant coach athletic teams.
    • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of students and staff.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and dedication.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    • A master's degree and certification as a school counsellor.
    • At least two years of relevant school experience, preferably in an international setting.
    • A deep understanding of child protection principles and a commitment to safeguarding student welfare.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Drive Apps and exceptional planning, organisational, and written English communication skills.

    • Previous experience as a school counsellor in a British School context.
