    Job Title: EHS (Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety) Engineer

    Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer

    reporting to Plant Manager indirectly to division EHS & Sustainability Manager/DIrector

    After receiving the appropriate training, you will integrate in the supply chain manufacturing team, and you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Implement EHS Strategy and Policies: Develop and update EHS policies and procedures in line with corporate standards and local regulations. Ensure that EHS policies are communicated and understood by all employees.
  • Support Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to corporate standards and local regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance and take corrective actions.
  • Communication and Partnership: Collaborate with site leadership, Operations & Engineering Team, EU Divisional EHS team, and Corporate to allocate necessary resources for EHS programs and initiatives. Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant regulations and standards related to environmental, occupational safety & health, risk management/fire safety, transportation, and toxic substances. Ensure that the facility complies with all key regulations and standards.
  • Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs: Manage and continuously improve occupational safety and industrial hygiene programs to mitigate workplace hazards. Conduct regular assessments to identify potential risks and implement control measures.
  • Safety Inspection Program: Oversee and manage the site's safety inspection program to identify and rectify safety hazards. Ensure that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Capital Improvement Projects: Manage and prioritize EHS-related capital improvement projects to enhance safety and environmental performance. Allocate resources and monitor progress on these projects.
  • Training and Development: Ensure EHS training requirements are met for all employees. Manage the EHS eLearning system and occasionally develop relevant training courses.
  • Accident Investigations and Corrective Actions: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes. Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans to prevent recurrences.
  • Contractor Safety Program: Ensure the full implementation and execution of the contractor safety program, with assistance from the Standard owner.
  • Audits and Inspections: Act as the site representative during corporate audits and regulatory inspections related to EHS. Participate as an EHS auditor in internal corporate audits.
  • Annual EHS Management Action Plan: Develop an annual EHS management action plan to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Technical Expertise and Leadership: Provide EHS technical expertise and leadership to support the subsidiary in achieving excellence in EHS execution.
  • KPIs and Data Reporting: Set local EHS goals (KPIs) and ensure accurate data reporting into global databases. Periodically report progress to all employees and use data analysis to prioritize actions.
  • Collaboration and Technology Transfer: Collaborate on optimizing and standardizing factory designs for improved EHS performance. Ensure consistent and complete EHS Technology Transfer within the local subsidiary.
  • Management of Change (MoC): Review and sign off on all 'Management of Change' projects to ensure EHS compliance.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Capture and communicate key learnings, best practices, potential issues/trends, and opportunities for improvement within the organization.
  • Incident and Accident Investigations: Participate in the investigation of all incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring that lessons learned are documented and corrective actions are taken.
  • EHS Presence and Attention: Maintain a high-profile EHS presence on the shop floor to ensure that EHS is a top priority.
  • Plant Safety and Environmental Projects: Coordinate the Plant Safety program in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines. Work on projects related to effluent minimization and energy consumption optimization in collaboration with the operating teams.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent), ideally at postgraduate (Masters of Engineering) level
  • Excellent command of English language
  • PC competency in using Microsoft Office, Google Tools.
  • 6-8 years of manufacturing or related experience required.
  • Experience in implementing Standard based programs, and specifically in EHS will be considered an asset.
  • Having Safety qualifications like Nebosh and/or OSHA
