    APQ Project Engineering Manager

    Job Description and Qualifications

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

    • Manage a small team which includes but not limited to: project controller, project document controller, contract manager, & junior project engineers as required.

    • Capable of understanding project metrics to monitor progress and hold accountable EPC contractors to maintain budget and schedule

    • Able to manage contracts and effectively negotiate contract disputes, claims, etc which are part of the project execution phases.

    • Capable of developing specific project execution strategy & communicating to stakeholders.

    • Work together with all departments in the organization (plant operations, finance, supply chain, & safety) to ensure all contractors and suppliers receive the required plant Safety Indoctrination and to comply with required safety rules, procedures and regulations, to meet Air Products' safety goal of zero injuries.

    • Define content of project tasks and resource requirements and manage project resource allocation progressively.

    • Develop estimates, funding documents, schedules & manpower requirements necessary to execute all projects successfully. Provide ongoing forecasts & maintain projects on budget and schedule.

    • Plan and schedule project timelines and closely monitor actual progress so that project schedule and deliverables are not negatively impacted.

    • Work closely with procurement & purchasing to bid and negotiate the purchase of equipment, materials & contract services to ensure they meet the project cost targets & deliverables.

    • Work closely with Air Products Qudra ' internal technical resources on project technical/safety issues such as design operability reviews, HAZOP's and cold eye reviews.

    • Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and close out ORI's with all actions & recommendations completed timely prior to handover to operations.

    • Coordinate with customers on "third-party project's" safety compliance issues as well as work permitting issues.

    • Evaluate and assess project progress & results, conduct "lessons learned" for future improvements.

    • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project design & execution phases.

    • Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.

    • Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites.

    • Conduct frequent formal housekeeping inspections of all project areas and ensure they adhere to requirements.

    • Communicate to Upper Management on project status.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Engineering or other technical undergraduate degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical).

    • 10-15 years' experience in industrial gases, oil and gas, and/or petrochemical industry.

    • ERP (SAP) project development and Implementation experience is preferred.

    • Proven track record in the chemical, oil and gas, or petro chemical industry in project execution, engineering management or construction management. Experience in multi-national company with excellent EHS performance/culture is highly desirable

    • Must be self-starter, and have project management experience to be able to work independently and coordinate efforts among support and leadership resources.

    • Role model within Project Engineering function:

    • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements

    • Organizational credibility - able to influence business area, engineering and manufacturing managers in decision making process

    • Basic understanding of the process technologies employed in operations of Air Products Qudra facilities.

    • Able to handle high level communication with customer and internal/external stakeholders and others as warranted.

    SKILLS
    - Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience with Primevera, Microsoft Project, or other Project Management tools required.
    - Demonstrates practical industrial field experience with strong leadership and communications skills.
    - Must have a hands-on and proactive approach with clear accountability in steering the project execution safely and consistent with Air Products Qudra requirements.
    - Demonstrates experience of working in an international or multi-national organization and appreciation of international cultures. Preferred to have exposure to matrix reporting.
    - Needs to have a business and customer service focus and passion for quality.
    - Possess critical thinking skills and has the ability to build trust and confidence with frontline workers, supervisors and management .
    - Strong problem solving and analytical skills are a pre-requisite
    - Confident and assertive with self-motivated approach and flexible attitude. Has the ability to overcome obstacles to solve problems & achieve results. Can cope with pressure and work to tight deadlines.
    - Possess good interpersonal skills and enthusiasm about his/her mission. To respect and work positively with others and create a workplace that is inclusive which generates credibility & confidence in others.
    - Excellent influencing skills are a major requirement for the job holder.
    - Strong relationship building skills, leading to the ability to successfully interact with stakeholders at all levels within a multicultural environment.
    - Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, preferably in Arabic and English. Multi-lingual capability is an advantage.
