Funny Addiction of Smartphones

Funny Addiction of Smartphones

Sometimes, with funny addiction of Smartphones, a person resembles a joker in the crowd. O, who denies the many uses of this little device, but its annoying presence all the time with a human being is just too much.

With twitching looks here and there and back to the screen, users of Smartphones have become obsessed.

Ugh…they speak to others, with pauses, end up conversations at the beeping tones and alerts, and then quickly, with their drooping heads, become engrossed with their mobile phones. As if people have lost the taste of true living, fallen in oblivion with the tremendous ‘brain jamming devices’  and perhaps, more than pulsating heart, Smartphones’ addicts are more concerned about their phones’ batteries—any moment, when they notice batteries on low, they’re worried to charge and enliven their phones.

Like the old, typical three-in-one tape-recorder, a human being has become all-in-one ‘digital being’. While we use Smartphones, we can talk, walk, hear and still carry on minor activities.

Once, I saw a person walking on the road, and he was muttering and laughing. For a moment, I thought he must be disturbed, talking to himself. Then, at once, I noticed that he was wearing blue-tooth headset. Aha…that’s the ease of perplexing technology!

Calling someone or attending calls anytime may be acceptable. And then, using Smartphones for recreation should be during leisure hours. Funnily, recently I noticed a young man in one crowded hospital. I was standing, at one side, in the corridor, and he passed in front of me, pushing pram, with his (probably) three years old child. Surprisingly, the child held a silicon-nipple in his mouth and on his laps there was a small iPad.

The young man stood in front of the reception, and shouted hurriedly, “O nurse!”Then, he instructed his wife to hurry up, as if he wants to quicken the things and get out of the hospital.

While seated, in the pram, the child looked up at his father, with a demanding face. The young man took the nipple out from his mouth, and gave him a container of chocolates. And, the child was busy tossing chocolates into his mouth and watching the iPad.

What else, then? Well, the young man, standing in the corridor, unaware of surrounding public, pulled out his slim, Smartphone from his pocket.

After drawing geometrical line to unlock the phone, he kept cascading the screen and while exploring the visible content, now and then he raised his eye-brows, as if he read some alarming message or news, and then gave a quick look at his child or spoke a little with his wife, who stood next to him, waiting for her turn to see the doctor.

What a weird situation…a young man glued to his Smartphone, no place to sit, and yet standing in the corridor, talking a little to his wife, then silently chewing gum in between his jaws, and back to screen, with a deep, maniac gaze.

In fact, I was seated on a chair, and observing this young man…at last, I took a deep breath, and I summed up how some habits can mar human personality. And, to my surprise, I saw a person, next to me, seated on a chair, too absorbed watching a short video on his Smartphone. Perhaps, caring the hospital atmosphere, he turned off sound.

Seeing this, I chuckled myself…and I wished not to make any comments. After a while, I left the hospital, with a gleaming idea to pen down a good article.
