Inert Ideas, Lethargic Lives

Inert Ideas, Lethargic Lives

be80bd7a.jpg

Once upon time, a very austere scholar was seated surrounded by his pupils. A questioner came to him and put forth a question. There wasn’t any reply from the scholar. On the contrary, the scholar lowered his head and remained silent. And the questioner was anxiously waiting to hear a reply from the scholar.

After few moments, one of the pupil politely said to the scholar, “Master, the questioner is here waiting for your reply. Perchance, you might have missed the question.”

“I have heard well what the questioner has put forth. But, I am just thinking what should be my correct answer,” said the scholar thoughtfully. “If at all my utterance goes wrong, then I’ll be accountable and my conscience will curse me,” continued the scholar.

Oftentimes, in haste, we harbor mingled thoughts, and without reaching any concrete conclusion, either we say something that’s mere conjecture or do anything that’s utterly baseless.

In proper sense, an upright thought accompanied by good intention leads to a worthwhile action. In simplicity, for the sake of charity to help someone in needy, if someone takes an initiative, then that’s a remarkable, vibrant action.

Interestingly, thinking of someone in affable terms, and saying nothing ill about him or taking no adverse action against him is also a virtue. It’s not negligence, but considerate lenience that outwardly resembles static, but does a great impact. And the one who’s under such influence embraces a truthful path. Amazing change, isn’t it?

On the contrary, we come across countless intellectuals who shatter simple truths for the sake of groundless ideas. Even though, they tend to project their ideas, as their innovative endeavors, but it’ll remain inert. Because, an unwarranted idea can gain no propensity and even if it becomes popular, there’ll be muddled, blind adherence leading to imbalance of senses and gross attitude.

Let me sum up here a relevant allegory. A prominent politician, among masses, is well-literate, bold in expressions and action and has the ability to influence public with amazing oratory that’ll belittle theatrical style. He knows that among his buddies, followers and public, there’s prevailing corrupt ideology. On select occasions, this sneaky politician incites the masses to get along with those wrong ideas and unfounded traditions.

In case, if the politician corrects his followers and illuminate the masses of deviant ideology, then there’s chances of losing their confidence and he might become sidetracked. Though the politician has become popular and influential, but, in essence, there are no lively changes.

In fact, it’s a collapse of human judgment, or a chaotic change that leaves everyone’s conscience in stagnant waters.

A right decision to correct oneself or take up right action can happen on the basis of truthful purpose, right knowledge, unbiased counsel and undemanding preferences. This is all truly meaningful.

But, when a person is prone to corruption and evil, he neglects simple truths or inclines more to futile imagery, bizarre ideas and unfair actions.

self understanding through introspection or relections from the environment around. Wonderful ways ...maybe because i belong to an isolated small place , introspection was more handy.

Agreed, Peace and joy are where you are. But many search for the same and become restless. To these the virtues of understanding their own character reveals they already have what they seek.

the word we have at our core is all encompassing..link the limited word to that and the other word becomes all encompassing. What i understand is this, linkages require time and the quest is mutual but the milestones are different . Peace and Joy dont need direction, merely realisation that they are everywhere and after the Peace and Joy too there is more to life because self discovery is endless due our limiting definition of objective. You see my views as wisdom because they give a new view, i see the same l see the same in you. Honest questions honest answers, everseeking

Patience is a macro view of the life experience. Standing in the forest of life shows only needs. When we gain a universe view we see the flow of life and understand our participation. We would see many journeys heading towards a single target, peace and joy. Each needing different tools, time and space to accomplish the journey. Patience is realizing that each is unique. Introspection with out social reflection leaves us wanting. We are designed with social needs of interaction. The reflection of this activity is where we can learn to be introspective in a dynamic way. I enjoy your views they show a path of wisdom.

Contd If you look at my poems, it has a lot of I, not ego but introspection.thats my core and my worldview..Mohammad has an equally interesting world view which suits him i enjoy your world view, of Ali Anani of Max of poetic Debashish and i find familiarity with Franci ..Live and Let Live.. I believe teachers empower us to introspect, fortunately i had a few such teachers

, indeed Harvey, but i believe everything is possible through introspection, a teacher saves us time effort and the possible experience of irreversible errors. A teacher taught me that, i identify with this most in my own way but i believe i may be digressing from the core topic. Still, the let live concept too must be viewed in the context of Life and Living itself and the undernourished are not living, i believe the scholar here gave a lesson of thoughtful utterance , i linked the application to patience as precedence. You, with an experience as a leader and a reluctant guide very well know the ingredients to achieve ones potential, yet i again link it with patience in mutual understanding, which may seem far fetched due to time constraints but it has worked consistently for me. What identify as essentials of life translate into Virtues as understood by the West, patience being one of them is the. Core to which i try to align the others, some have courage at the core, some habe understanding, some have honesty...my assumption is that patience automatically gives me honesty, understanding and faith...honesty in the sense of informed response... I have seen people have faith at the core and patience comes automatically ..some get courage with understanding some get understanding through courage....etc etc... The recipe of alignment being different for different, i arrjved at patience through introspection while my teachers wanted me to keep honesty at the core, i did , though i held my head i coildnt survive unless i learnt patience. But thats a personal example and not a universal one. .

Agreed, but cogs are placed in our youth with knowledge, until wisdom comes along we will not know that the cogs are miss-aligned. This is only a realization. The journey of aligning the cogs will take great courage and understanding. But this journey can not be taken alone. We need a guide. Patience is something that we learn through others. Unfortunately we don't like being guides. A guide will deal with the challenges of change in another. We will receive not to kind statements. But this is where the wise develop another great trait, perseverance. I am all for a live and let live society. But when the character traits are undernourished because we are letting things "just live" we all suffer through adolescent execution of life around our journey. Refined patience, perseverance and many other character journeys allow us to seek the life we all want, peace and joy. With out these traits we will languish in mediocrity.

Really nice buzz . If we can learn to rely on our own judgments and seek the truth, we are all better off.

instant gratification is the place to practice it. Its just an opinion but i think giving time and attention every cog fits. We give ourselves time through patience :)

Thanks Devesh for your thoughtful comments. Indeed, there are many uses of patience. Even 'to say good or else remain silent' does require perseverance.

Practicing Patience --- one can tap the head and heart in tandem. Everyone has tremendous capacity to decipher ill influence and seek clarity of thought. This is an assumption but perhaps the wise scholar allowed the excitement to settle down, because suppressing curiosity isn't the right approach. Meanwhile he was cautious, incase a few were still excited and may misinterpret. I have witnessed this and applied this, patience slows down the clock and improves response, we merely have to prevent haste and feed the correct information, the other's figure out the facts.

Good thoughts on considering our responses.

Good thoughts . Our emotions seem to climb too the frontal lobes first and we respond. Limiting our abilities to process and discover new and different challenges. The world we find ourselves is full of defense, positions and accumulated yesterday news. Thanks for the post
