Privileges, Promotions and Incentives

Keep your workforce happy, and they, in turn, will remain loyal, productive and responsible. 


For example, an employee feels happy and secure when he has a good job, perks at work and extra benefits. In fact, it’s human tendency that we feel good when we find good care, contentment and conveniences.


At workplaces, no one gets promoted at once. Job promotion comes when one’s contributions are considered, abilities are appraised and aspirations are acknowledged.


Nothing is complicated when you want to recruit a right person for a key position.


Sometimes, instead of external hiring, an internal shuffle can be a right solution. In one company, a senior warehouse manager left the job, and the management refused the idea of hiring an outsider or selecting someone from the warehouse. On the contrary, they found someone, from the other department, who was more competent, communicative and keen to accept challenges and get things done. Well, the management move him to that position, and now he enjoys his new position. 


What happens when a person holds insufficient experience, gets promoted to a significant position and has a typical job description? Such a person may pretend to perform ordinary tasks in odd ways or may confuse others due to lack of perception and prudence.


In a multinational company, there was a vacancy for a high-ranking position. Fortunately, the regional HR manager knew well that his own colleague fits well for that post. So he met that potential manager who knows how to accelerate performance upon sales targets and fetch results to maximum. Well aware of diverse tactics, he more like a strategic planner and a prized asset to his company. 


Like a juggler, he knows the art of negotiation and winning sales and is quick in problem solving.


Without any second thought the HR manager encouraged his senior colleague to apply for this position because, after all, based on his capabilities and expertise, he deserves this top ranking position.


Well, in truth, if there’s selection based on proven track record of accomplishments and progression, then that’s legitimate privilege. No partiality, at all. 


On the other hand, it’s inspirational when a company takes up bold initiatives to


1. Make employees realize their specific roles and responsibilities

2. Empower employees towards a culture of collaboration

3. Privilege employees to work efficiently with a sense of ownership

4. Encourage employees in their career pathways for progression

5. Launch job related training and skills enrichment programs

6. Plan gatherings and trips to build interpersonal relationships

7. Allow employees to have flexibility for their priorities

8. Recognize and reward teamwork and achievements

9. Provide appropriate perks based on impartial appraisals

10. Build culture for workplace integrity and company’s welfare

11. Support employees to come up with innovative ideas and feedback


One powerful way to motivate your employees for more engagement and productivity is giving them bonuses.


In some well-off companies, there aren’t any festival bonus or annual appraisals incentives. Simply say, there might be making profits, but a decisive portion of profitability goes to the upper echelon of management, and nothing goes to poor workforce.


Nevertheless, bonuses, when bestowed in principled ways, are bounties. And definitely, those who are privileged should be happy, grateful and productive at their workplaces.
