Assists consultant pulmonologist in providing high quality, patient-centred, consultations, interventions and management for patients with pulmonary diseases as assigned by the consultant transplant pulmonologist.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Clinical Responsibilities


  • Assisting the consultant pulmonologist in providing inpatient and outpatient consultations, treatment and management as assigned.
  • Attending specialty clinics and clinical rounds as assigned.
  • Performing specialty procedures as assigned.
  • Participating in the On-Call Schedule for the section of Lung Transplant Unit.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with other teams and staff members involved in Lung Transplant.
  • Participating in committees and administrative functions as required.
  • Supervising residents and training fellows in his/her area of expertise as assigned by the consultant pulmonologist.
  • Maintaining accurate, adequate and timely documentation of patients care progress as applicable.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Academic Responsibilities


  • Provides orientation, bedside training and supervision to residents and fellows as assigned.
  • Keeps abreast with all the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of Transplant Pulmonology, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
  • Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the section.
Research Responsibilities


  • Actively participates in clinical, basic and translational research projects and publishes papers in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of KFSH&RC.
  • Participates in research activities of the section of Lung Transplantation and the Organ Transplant Centre.
Administrative Responsibilities


  • Undertakes the administrative duties as assigned by Head of Section or Director of the Organ Transplant Centre.
  • Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and the Organ Transplant Centre's Activities, i.e. Staff Meeting, Core Lectures, Research Forum, etc. and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.
  • Actively contributes to the Division's and/or the Department's documentation of patient care processes and outcomes in the medical chart and or The Organ Transplant Registry.
  • Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
  • Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
  • Participates in self and others' education, training, and development as applicable.
  • Follows all hospital-related policies and procedures.

Education:


Graduation from an accredited medical school with good standing, Fellowship training or equivalent in pulmonary medicine and/or critical care medicine is required.


Experience Required:

Two (2) years of Pulmonary experience.
