Assigns and coordinates the activities of Patient Care Assistants (PCA) throughout the Hospital. Assists with the management of task assignment, performs other related activities with data entry and providing reports.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Ensures prompt dispatch of PCAs in accordance with identified Capacity Management job requirements.
  • Assigns PCAs to zones according to Supervisor, Central Patient Transport (CPT) instructions.
  • Facilitates inservice program, in liaison with Supervisor, CPT.
  • Oversees Capacity Management job assignment functions to assure system operation and readiness to meet patients' needs.
  • Participates in the evaluation of orientation program for new PCAs. Act as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of new staff to assist in developing their competence.
  • Ensures manual operation of system during periods of down time to assure continuity of service.
  • Monitors attendance of PCAs staff and reports all lateness, absence, day time sick calls and noshows to Supervisor, CPT.
  • Reports increase in job workloads to Supervisor, CPT for management evidenced by Capacity Management alerts. Reports any system alerts immediately to Supervisor, CPT.
  • Monitors and promotes adherence to Dress Code Policy.
  • Demonstrates collaborative multidisciplinary partnerships working towards the achievements of constant improvements in quality patient care.
  • Reports equipment failures, safety and security issues, and/or reduction of supply inventory to Supervisor, CPT.
  • Supports the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction. Participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree, Diploma in Hospital / Business Administration or other related discipline or High School Education is required.


Experience Required:


No experience is required with Bachelor's Degree (on-job training), one (1) year of related experience with Diploma, or three (3) years with High School Education is required.
