RAMS Manager for Turnkey projects


Alstom is hiring a RAMS Manager for Turnkey projects to reinforce the system Turnkey RAMS team based in Saudi Arabia.

Turnkey RAMS Manager team is in charge of managing global railway projects, called also Turnkey projects.

These projects have the specificities to integrate several subsystems (rolling stock, signaling, platform screen doors, power and track, etc.) to comply with the client requirements in term of planning, cost and quality on a wide range of market railway solutions - mainline, metros and tramways.


Your mission


You will be in charge of RAMS topics for the project you are appointed to, you will undertake to set up and carry out the System activities under your responsibility.

These Activities include RAM Safety, Regulation and Certification.

You will

  • Manage the SAFETY activities in accordance with EN 50126, 50128 & 50129 and in line with Alstom safety policy on the tender(s)/project(s)/program(s) allocated to the Solution or Platform (e.g. APS, Power Supply)
  • Responsible for integration of system safety requirements/standards/guidance/strategy and certification into the operations planning across the Project life cycle.
  • Ensure the deployment of corresponding Railway Safety instructions and processes applicable to her/his Solution or Platform scope.
  • Support the Solution or Platform performance by ensuring SAFETY requirements identified upstream allowing to:
  • enhance their capability to meet the expected RAM and safety targets.
- reach an acceptable level of risks as per the Alstom Transport Safety policy.

  • Train the SAFETY Team on her/his Solution or Platform to increase the SAFETY Team competences.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the SAFETY Métier
  • Develop the System RAM & Safety culture inside the Solution or Platform towards other Métiers

What are your responsibilities?

  • Leading the RAMS, regulation/safety certification activities at RSS contractor level.
  • Coordinating the RAM and Safety activities between system and RSS subsystems,
  • Identifying and demonstrating the contractual RAM and Safety requirements applicable to RSS contractor scope of work,
  • Defining the applicable Safety activities for their relevant subsystems in a corresponding System Safety Plan,
  • Performing the safety assessment and validation
  • Ensure the development of the Hazard Analysis and Hazard Log,
  • Ensure the development of all required RAMS and Safety Studies,
  • Ensure the apportionment of Risk Tolerability Criteria to Subsystems,
  • Ensure the development of a Quantified Risk Assessment,
  • Capture, apportion and demonstration of Safety Requirements;
  • Providing their contribution (e.g. System Safety case) to the system Assurance Manager
  • Participating to the safety review panels,
  • Be in interface between Subsystems and the system Assurance Manager,
  • Supervising and managing the Safety activities of subsystems,
  • Proposing and following up corrective actions in case of incidents during tests and demonstration,
  • Providing proof of Safety achievement
  • Reviewing of all the Safety deliverables under his scope of work, and audit at system and Subsystems,
  • Integration of system safety requirements / standards / guidance / strategy into the operations planning during the entire project life cycle phases
  • Supporting the other stakeholders (design, industrial, sourcing, quality, T&C, etc...) in the understanding of the RAM and SAFETY processes and actions in particular with regards to the interfaces in between the teams.
  • Supporting the Solution or Platform in identifying railway safety related regulation
  • Supporting the Transport Safety Council for regulation, standard and adhoc committee in the area of Railway Safety.
  • Having a proactive challenging view on the overall SAFETY results of the studies performed by the SAFETY team to enhance their adequacy/consistency and compliance to the Railway Safety instructions and processes.
  • Ensuring that the actions of communication / awareness on railway safety (internally or externally) are done.

What do you need to qualify for this job?

  • Advanced University Degree in Engineering, RAMS or equivalent.
  • Technical experience: knowledge on railway systems.
  • Minimum 15 years of successful experience in Railway Engineering (Turnkey projects, signaling or rolling stock system) with a minimum of 10 years as a RAM/Safety Manager.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of international projects.
  • Successful experience in working in a multisite, multicultural joint venture/consortium environment.
  • Internal recognition of expertise.
  • Experience in converting safety strategy into actionable items.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills,
  • Sense of priorities,
  • Structured and organized with handson approach,
  • Able to work on international and multicultural projects
  • Fluent in English (Arabic and French would be a plus)
