Plans, directs, and supervises the services, activities and the staff of the Heart Centre Perfusion Team


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Responsible for the overall quality of patient care including the nature and scope of clinical services provided
  • Responsible for the efficient and cost effective operation of the Perfusion Section within the allocated resources in accordance with outcome performance measurement programs and evaluation mechanisms.
  • Develops implements and revises Perfusion Policy and Procedures. Ensures that the perfusion quality assure program meets and /or exceeds JCIA standards and /or any other applicable standards are required.
  • Manages the quality and competency of the Perfusion staff through effective use of ongoing educational workshops, Clinical Pathways skill based and QI reviews.
  • Maintains operational statistics and provide reports as may be required by the Medical Director, Perfusion Services and the Director, Heart Centre
  • Plans staffing patterns and schedules based on patient needs ensuring adequate coverage for the provision of required services within the budget allocation.

Education:

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health Science, or other related discipline is required


Experience Required:


Grade 11:

Five (5) years of related experience with Master's, or seven (7) years with Bachelor's Degree, including two (2) years in a seniority position is required.


Grade 12:

Seven (7) years of related experience with Master's, or nine (9) years with Bachelor's Degree, including four (4) years of (Grade 11) experience is required.


Other Requirements(Certificates):

Certified by an accredited Perfusion Training Program.
