JOB PURPOSE


BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia.

We provide maintenance of Royal Naval Forces ships and train RSNF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their ships and equipment.


The Post Holder will be responsible for leading a team of Naval Officer Training Seamanship Instructors at the King Fahd Naval Academy (KFNA).

This includes classroom delivery, placement and progress testing / marking, materials selection, preparation and development, syllabus development, implementation of courses and record keeping.

The Post Holder will be responsible for leading, controlling, planning and scheduling NOT Seamanship training programs.


The Post Holder will act as the NOT Seamanship Departmental Co-ordinator, with particular emphasis on ensuring staff leave periods are effectively managed to ensure training delivery is not impacted.


The Post Holder is responsible for ensuring that all staff are in date for mandatory training required to fulfil their duties.


The Post Holder is to manage all training delivery courseware within NOT Seamanship, ensuring that the required training delivery outcomes for the project are maintained.

The Post Holder is to collate, analyse and distribute Cadet performance results as required by the STM.

The Post Holder will co-ordinate with the STM concerning all aspects of course administration and implementation.


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

The post holder is responsible for:

  • the co-ordination of leave throughout the department ensuring all training requirements and commitments are met
- the implementation of NOT Seamanship courses at KFNA, ensuring that they are delivered to plan and that quality is maintained,
- providing direction and guidance to NOT Seamanship Instructors and Support Staff, including professional development, training and ePDRs
- the day-to-day Seamanship and management of the team delivering the NOT courses to ensure that all training targets are met
- the collation, analysis and distribution of Cadet performance results as required by the TM
- ensuring that all staff are up to date with mandatory training required to fulfil their duties
- establishing and maintaining effective links with local RSNF Training Officers
- overseeing the preparation of timetables, scheduling and allocation of NOT Seamanship staff
- contributing to the acquisition, allocation, maintenance and use of training resources including textbooks, workbooks, classrooms, laboratories, training devices, and consumables
- working closely with the RSNF Surveillance and Cadet Welfare teams to ensure appropriate levels of trainee discipline is maintained
- reviewing NOT Seamanship Instructor performance through lesson observations
- managing, directing and planning workload of the NOT team
- maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders within NOT such as StanEval, Training Operations and the LRC
- ensuring that all SHE requirements are communicated to staff and met in the NOT environment
- ensuring that the electronic Performance Development Reviews (ePDRs) of direct reports are completed to schedule, identifying development needs and ensuring effective objectives are communicated and realized
- selecting and developing appropriate course material to match students' abilities and requirements
- providing regular updates to the STM on training performance, trainee discipline and any other issues that require his assistance
- ensuring that all reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner
- ensuring that all quality process documentation requirements are implemented and communicated to the NOT Seamanship team.

The Post Holder will be expected to operate to a standard of absolute integrity and professionalism.


The Post Holder will ensure the completion of any other reasonable request by their line manager, which aligns with Company business.


RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

_ Essential_

The Post Holder must:

- have at least three years' experience of leading a team of instructors and overseeing manpower coordination and training delivery to a high standard
- be a graduate of an advanced military trade school or an industry equivalent
- have 5 years of practical experience in their specialty
- have successfully completed a Military Defence Train the Trainer or UKG approved instructional techniques course (RQF Level 3), or Saudi equivalent
- have at least one year of recent (within last 5 years) instructional experience
- have at least two year of recent (within last 5 years) experience in training programming, manpower scheduling and resource management
- be a good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- be fluent in English with a minimum of IELTS 6.0 for non-nat
