Plan and coordinate the execution of all work request related to in house Welding activities for assembly shop of Rigs and related equipment/accessories.
- Create welding schedules for Rigs and related equipment/accessories as per the assembly shop requirements using latest and appropriate welding techniques like SAW (boom & Column), SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW (Fronius).
- Develops and oversees certification testing for qualification of welders to national codes and customer requirements.
- Maintain welder/ welding operators records such as welder/operator performance qualification records, welder cards, continuity records.
- Evaluate welder performance and monitor defect rate. Arrange trainings to reduce the defect rates.
- Draw weld maps and update information in weld maps as and when required.
- Review WPS/PQR and related documentations and coordinates for PQR qualifications with the responsible parties.
- Manage welding procedure qualifications and generate welding procedure to help the manufacturing and welding teams.
- Conduct failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.
- Review proper implementation of welding procedures.
- Explain metal/material properties to welders to ensure correct utilization of welding techniques.
- Review and approve type of welding electrodes to be used by welders and ensure welding electrodes are used as per WPS.
- Monitor welding activities and ensure WPS are displayed clearly in welding area so welders can follow parameters as per WPS.
- Report progress to the management.
- Work closely with interdiscipline team members to ensure the product complies to the project requirements.
- Liaise with welding engineering to analyse, plan, and implement solutions to create/provide efficient fabrication and welding processes.
- Determine and develop the necessary process specifications for welding, preheating, interpass temperature controls, NDE, PWHT, setup, and dimensional controls which are required as per the contract.
- Implement approved section policies, work instructions, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of work programs in line with company and international and product specific standards.
- Ensure availability of proper equipment, materials, and consumables for all the activities related to welding.
- Assist to develop and implement appropriate production/fabrication techniques to ensure accuracy, productivity and level of product standards are met.
- Assists in the development and documentation of production welding best practices for current product
- Ensure dimensional checks to ensure compliance to drawing tolerances and detail requirements.
- Ensure welders and welding operators are having the necessary programs and latest WPS revisions all the time.
- Resolve shop issues involving welding equipment and tooling and lead solution implementation.
- Inspects welded joints to ensure welds meet company standards, national code requirements, and customer job specifications.
- Collects data from automated welding equipment and manual processes to monitor run results to establish work hour standards
- Comply with all ARM Company and HSE policies and procedures.
