Basic Function:


Responsible for providing directions, driving and overseeing the formulation and execution of sourcing strategies for spend categories assigned to him / her, and establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of sourcing benefits and opportunities.

He/she ensures that procurement processes and methodologies are rigorously followed and technology enablers (where applicable) are implemented for all spend categories assigned


Scope:


Senior Category Coordinator leads category teams in the development and execution of category strategies, with particular focus on high value/strategically important categories.


He/she aligns and links procurement strategy and resources to the division's overall strategy and needs, oversees the planning and implementation of sourcing projects and engages stakeholders and the required cross-functional resources.

Contributes to and implements supplier relationship programs in close alignment with stakeholders and the CoE (center of excellence).

Tracks and supports implementation of contracts and agreements.

Ensures Procurement's ongoing value contribution to JHAH.

Meets with end users and proponents to establish customer relationship management

Senior Category Coordinator reports to the Category Coordinator Specialist


Internal interactions:


  • Daily with category management teams to define, plan and implement sourcing strategies and to manage relationship with suppliers.
- regularly with Director Category Management and Senior Director Supply Chain Management to report categories performance, escalate issues, align to company's strategy
- regularly with end users, medical, clinical and non-clinical staff to define requirements, co-lead sourcing activities, troubleshooting issues and conducting value analysis, materials or service evaluations, customer satisfaction and service requirements
- ad hoc with Purchasing teams
- ad hoc with CoE (center of excellence) team for analysis, performance, processes, legal, IT and HR related topics
- ad hoc with Commercial agreement Coordinator
- ad hoc with Material handling team for issue troubleshooting
- ad hoc with finance and legal department including budgeting and compliance requirements


External interactions:

- regularly with category suppliers; in particular with strategic partners, and more frequently during sourcing / spend management activities (Request for Proposal process) while negotiating/ contract set up.
- regularly with suppliers, in particular with strategic partners, to coordinate sourcing/spend management activities
- regularly with suppliers and external partners, in particular with strategic partners, in the review of performance metrics and service levels


Principal Duties:


Main duties are as following:

Leadership and Management Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach direct reports, supervise activities performed by the team members, and handle administrative HR topics when required.
  • Mentor junior resources to professionally source for goods/services to meet the quality standards/specifications at the lowest total cost.
  • Work closely with HR partner in supply chain to set up development plans for resources under direct responsibility.
  • Evaluate performance of team members, provide guidance and counseling on career development, identify skill development needs and encourage team members to fulfill them.
  • Contribute to recruitment, motivate and develop staff in the team to ensure development of necessary skills base and that all staff are enabled to reach their highest potential.
  • Interact with stakeholders across the organization to define strategic goals and ensure they are achieved.
  • Consolidate key information from various categories to present to leadership.
  • Ensure that targets for various categories are being met and issues are being resolved.
  • Assist with sourcing escalation issues in order to assist category management teams to meet their objectives.
  • Assist in defining strategic sourcing best practices, provide expertise and thought leadership to expand the sourcing benefits and opportunities.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Assist category teams in evaluating and prioritizing strategic sourcing initiatives and developing sourcing plan; support in identifying strategic sourcing waves/ roadmap with inputs from Category Coordinators based on market changes, contract expiration, and time lapse since last strategic sourcing event.
  • Oversee development and execution of category management strategies for value enhancement or cost reduction that result in tangible benefits, using sound knowledge on internal analysis and external market analysis.
  • Ensuring that the priorities of identified initiatives align with business priorities.
  • Evaluate strategies based on changing market conditions and provide inputs
