Basic Function

Assists unit's nursing staff by performing a variety of non-clinical assigned routine duties. Acts as escort for patient transport within hospital/district areas as assigned. Assists in maintenance of a clean, safe environment

Principal Duties

Performs under the direct supervision of the nursing staff, a variety of activities within the parameters of the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the Hospitals.

These include:

• Distributes food trays to patients and collects food trays after meals.
• Assists with the transport and moving of patients both in the assigned unit and throughout the medical facility as nonclinical porter.
• Treats clients (visitors and all employees) with courtesy, respect and caring behaviors.
• Presents a positive image of Hospitals through professional appearance and behavior.
• Takes appropriate action upon noticing a problem; and immediately brings abnormal findings to the attention of the assigned senior staff.
• Provides comfort measures during procedure if chaperoning, and always cleans area after procedure.
• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment by keeping unit clean and disposing of soiled, contaminated items appropriately.
• Tags, reports and removes broken equipment from service and delivers to repair area.
• Frequently checks for and reads all communication/minutes.
• Maintains infection control and safety awareness.
• Participates in staff mandatory training and development programs to enhance personal growth and development.
• Participates in fire and disaster drills and mock codes.
• Practices within the established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship with healthcare personnel.
• Possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Trace and record all unit material and equipment movement as directed.
• Support unit material and supplies retrieval and inventory.
• Responsible of stock inventory as directed by charge nurse.
• Clean and maintain equipment as needed.
• Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Hospitals and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
• Under direct supervision, performs duties necessary to provide safe, courteous and efficient transport of patients, equipment, supplies and specimens to and from patient care areas and departments within the facility.
• Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested.

Education

12 years including high school.

Experience

Hospital experience in any field is preferred but not necessary. Training on the job will be provided.

Certifications/Other requirements as applicable.

Must be able to communicate and comprehend English.


Working Hours:
The required working hours are 48 hours/week as 12 hours shift (Day & Night).
