Job Context:

Safety And Loss Prevention Engineer who is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks associated with electrical operations to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and the environment.

This role also involves developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and practices to prevent accidents and reduce losses.

Key Accountabilities:


The position involves:


  • The Safety and Loss Prevention Engineer operates within the company's plants, facilities, and equipment, encompassing transmission, distribution, and generation systems.
  • They collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to implement effective safety and loss prevention strategies.
  • This role involves financial responsibilities related to budgeting for loss prevention initiatives and equipment upgrades.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to electrical systems and operations.
  • Identify potential hazards, including electrical shock, arc flash, and fire risks.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to electrical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as NFPA 70E.
  • Provide training and awareness programs for employees on electrical safety best practices.
  • Ensure that workers are knowledgeable about electrical safety procedures.
  • Investigate electrical incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Analyze root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor the condition of electrical equipment and infrastructure.
  • Recommend maintenance and replacement plans to prevent failures.
  • Develop emergency response plans for electrical incidents, including electrical fires and equipment failures.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to ensure readiness.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections of electrical facilities and work sites.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain records of safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

**We Are Looking For: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minmum 9 years of experience in Engineering or Safety And Loss Prevention Engineer role in the Electricity industry.
  • Professional certification in safety, such as Certified Safety Professional (PE) & (CSP), is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE).
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical hazards and safety protocols (e.g., arc flash hazard analysis).
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and standards.
