SNC-Lavalin has an exciting full-time career opportunity for a
Senior HV Underground / Submarine Engineer to build a career in the area of
Power Systems.

The resource will report to our project management team in Jeddah Saudi Arabia and assigned to the Gulf of Aqaba ± 500 HVDC Submarine and Land Cable System of the ± 500 kV HVDC Saudi-Egypt interconnection project_.

This position reports to the Design Project Manager.


Responsibilities
Working in collaboration with the Project Team to review the engineering deliverables prepare the following deliverables / provide the following engineering services (non-exhaustive list):

  • Review of the design of the ± 500 kV HVDC cable; 66 kV and Fiber Optic cables, both submarine and land.
  • Review of the interfaces of the cable in the transition stations, transition joints, cable terminations;
  • Review of the Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS)
  • Review of land marine surveys (bathymetric, geotechnical, environmental, etc.);
  • Review of underground and submarine cable installation drawings, methods of statements, procedures, etc.;
  • Detailed design reviews of O.E.M. design documentation and drawings;
  • Detailed design review for cable accessories and related equipment (joints, terminations, DTS, cable monitoring system, etc.);
  • Onsite cable laying and Commissioning supervision;
  • Factory testing supervision;
  • Client interfacing, and providing expertise in HV cable systems;

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Offshore Engineering;
  • 15+ years of relevant experience, particularly related to HV underground and submarine cable design/installation;
  • Field experience in the installation of underground and submarine cables;
  • Exceptional problemsolving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results;
  • Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Client focused, highly autonomous, and ability to work under pressure;
  • Proficiency in the following software tools (an asset): CYMCAP.
