Responsible for the provision of care to referred patients, education of Medical Residents and Fellows, research activities and administrative duties.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Clinical Responsibilities


  • Assumes primary responsibility for the care of patients referred for Radiological exams or procedures.

This includes, but is not limited to:
Ensures exams are indicated and appropriate based on available information (risk vs. benefits assessment). Performance of exams and procedures; Dictation of results; Verification of reports.


  • Minimizes patient exposure to ionizing radiation according to (ALARA) As Low As Reasonably Achievable principles outlined in the hospital Radiation Safety Manual.
  • Responsible for the timely completion, completeness and accuracy of Radiological reports.
  • Provides on-call service and ensures availability and response time within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with hospital policy.
Academic Responsibilities


  • Supervises Residents and Fellows and ensures that their assigned work is performed within the scope of clearly defined and approved program guidelines.
  • Abides by hospital medical staff bylaws, and all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
  • Conducts education for residents and fellows and participates in the Department's educational activities.
Research Responsibilities


  • Participates in clinical, basic and translational research projects in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of KFSH & RC.
Administrative Responsibilities


  • Accepts and undertakes administrative and other assignments from the Section Head or Chairman.
  • Attends Section, Department, and Organization staff meetings.
  • Provides consultation to other services upon request.
  • Follows all related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Education:


Graduation from a medical school in good standing, completion of required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or equivalent as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.


Experience Required:

Seven (7) years of training in specialty or subspecialty plus post-training experience is required.
