About the role


The Medical Advisor contributes to the development of medical strategy and provides Medical input into Brand Strategies and Medical guidance and governance for Novartis therapeutic areas ensuring support of the life cycle of assigned products.

This role works to execute the medical component of the Brand Strategies, ensure team members are properly trained, and ensures medical (including Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS)) efforts
are properly executed and documented.

Major Accountabilities:

JOB INTERACTIONS AND INTERFACE:


This role interacts internally with the cross functional teams and externally with Key medical experts, health authorities and other industry stakeholders.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development of the Medical component of the Brand Strategy, and develop a Medical Plan for each assigned product, in support of the Brand Plans. Develop and implement therapeutic area specific medical plans and publication plans.
  • Leading the management of clinical studies in the Saudi affiliate ensuring: proper documentation, contracts, oversight,, drug shipments, logistics.
  • Leading the management of Grants & Sponsorships ensuring proper documentation, contracts and payment.
  • Work with franchise medical lead to develop the top medical experts and Stakeholder engagement plans in accordance with the overall strategic brand plans.
  • Liaison with global/regional/local Clinical Operations team to ensure optimal Saudi top medical experts development and support.
  • Create and deliver brand training to the team
  • Provide and collaborate with the cross functional teams to develop scientific tools required for them to successfully perform their job (eg scientific platform content, presentation of new data, etc.).
  • Contribute to the development, attend and present at appropriate meetings (advisory board meetings, investigator meetings, MEs meetings, CME, Novartis meetings, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship and interact directly with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, other Novartis affiliates to understand global strategy and share best practices.
  • Provide crossfunctional therapeutic and product expertise to internal customers
  • Support the marketing and market access strategy for all assigned products by being a key member on cross functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain uptodate knowledge of the therapy areas by reviewing the literature, discussions with Key Opinion Leaders and key stakeholders, participating in cross functional interactions, attending scientific congresses, etc.
  • Maintain up to date clinical knowledge in appropriate therapeutic areas, and provide appropriate overall strategic and operational input into Novartis TA objectives.
  • Review promotional materials and Regulatory documents for medical accuracy and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop presentation materials as required.
  • Provide therapeutic area training as needed.
  • Support the development/revision and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Ensure all Medical activities are compliant with appropriate Novartis/ SFDA SOP's, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ICH guidelines.
  • Participate in personal development and training sessions.
  • Work in a safe manner that does not endanger yourself or coworkers.

Role Requirements

Education:

Pharmacist, MSc, degree in other life sciences. Doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD).


Language:

Fluent in English & Local Language (Arabic) (oral and written).

Experience & profession:

  • Proven ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with Medical Experts and decision makers.
  • Working knowledge of the Healthcare System and research procedures as well as the ICH guidelines, GCP and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in medical education and communications in at least one therapeutic area.
  • Ability to understand and effectively convey emergent scientific and HEOR data.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, persuasion and presentation).
  • Must be able to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively on multifunctional teams in a constantly changing field-based environment.
  • Familiar with the use of social media and evolving digital platforms e.g. for stakeholder mapping, management, development and insights gathering.
  • Strong personal integrity and focus on stakeholders.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimal 23 years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Preferable experience within Hematology Disease
