Project Overview:


Bechtel and its consortium partners are excited to begin hiring the completion teams which will finalize the monumental Riyadh Metro Project (RMP), currently estimated at 94% complete.

The BACS consortium, which includes Almabani General Contractors, Consolidated Contractors Company, and Siemens, is responsible for the design, construction, train cars, and signaling as well as electrification and integration of the new lines to the rest of the system.

Riyadh's population of nearly 6 million is forecast to increase to 8 million by 2030.

The new metro system will meet the demands of the growing population while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.

Position Summary:

The project is currently seeking a Planning Engineer. The Planning Engineer supervises schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan development activities. Manages integration of subcontractor schedules into overall baseline schedule. Engages with all disciplines and departments to ensure total project integration into the baseline. Assists project organizational and administrative activities. Establishes milestones for the total project and supervises schedule resource loading and leveling. Assists development of scheduling standards and procedures. Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to planning and scheduling problems.


Typical Job Duties:


  • Prepares project control plans and detailed staffing utilization plans for discipline or specialty activities.
  • Assists in preparing schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
  • Ascertains that the correct scope of work is reflected on all schedules, resources are assigned appropriately with the correct execution logic.
  • Coordinate with construction teams and develop execution plans and translate into a critical path network.
  • Review and lighten critical path analysis on multiaspect and interlinked projects
  • Prepare narratives to explain schedule revisions and interface change.
  • Coordinate between different work groups to lighten issues and provide the best solution for the project.
  • Prepare presentations that demonstrate the schedule execution approach, highlight areas of concern and critical items.
  • Integrates inter discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. Works with the performing organizations and units to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.
  • Establishes and implements methods for finding activity durations within assigned disciplines or specialties.
  • Develops quantity release or installation curves for assigned disciplines or specialties. Reviews and evaluates quantity records to ensure total quantities are represented for a discipline or specialty. Develops required job hour expenditure for assigned disciplines or specialties. Assists in finding leveling decisions. Performs quantity, manpower, and cost resource loading for assigned schedules. Performs invoice preparation for payments based on cost loaded schedules as required. Performs performance monitoring and control functions.
  • Reviews schedule data and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned disciplines or specialties. Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
  • Finds criticalpath activities for assigned discipline or specialties, and identifies significant activities supporting interdiscipline requirements. Identifies critical path for discipline or specialty work activities.
  • Monitors schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.

Job Knowledge and Experience:


  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
