About the Job


As our Technical Quality Manager your role will be geared towards the delivery of the repair service carried out by the technician's, trained by the engineering team.

You will engage with the team of Technicians whilst ensuring internal quality control is measured and maintained at all times.


As part of your key responsibilities you will:

  • Help develop a culture within the site supportive of quality and excellence in technical delivery
  • Support the Technical and Customer Engagement Lead with technical knowledge for input into bid tenders / development of service proposition
  • Interface with the client on technical matters relating to both product and process quality
  • Report and deliver on the quality metrics under improvement
  • Deliver the objectives of any future facing Unipart Logistics quality technical requirements
  • Work collaboratively with all relevant senior stakeholders internally
  • Deliver against project requirements as directed by the Head of Engineering
  • Contribute and maintain excellent standard of engagement and safety in the workplace
  • Have a continuous improvement ethos and willingness to question the status quo
  • Have a flexible approach in terms of adapting to team requirements as and when required
  • Lead the Quality Engineering function as required in line with annual objectives
  • Have a deep understanding of the customer's requirement and processes
  • Support with the develop of new test methods and tooling for new and existing products
  • Recruit exceptionally competent people into the Quality Engineering team
  • Deliver the improvement agenda to increase technical competence, specifically, but not limited to, repair
  • Work with process owners to identify and close out quality issues
  • Engage, promote and support the delivery of enhanced technical competencies and associated dependencies
  • Drive the quality and content of data to achieve improved reporting mechanisms
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities to improve the process performance and through the team, deliver improvements
  • Actively ascertain the business unit's compliance to technical requirements and work with the business unit to achieve conformance

About You

  • At least five years' experience of working within an engineering environment
  • Ideally Degree level in Electro Mechanical Engineering
  • Have experience of leading teams of engineers and across multiple disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible and committed to achieving team/site objectives
  • IT Literate
  • Customer focus
  • Basic numerical skills
  • Familiar with ISO 900
  • Quality Circles PDCA
  • 8D reporting
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and the seven tools
  • Ishikawa Fishbone Diagram (IFD), Pareto Charts, 5 Why's, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Scatter Diagram, Affinity Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
