    Role Purpose

    The Head of Student Recruitment will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and talented student body to the university. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in student recruitment who can lead and manage a team of professionals to achieve recruitment goals while also developing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance recruitment efforts.

    Key Accountabilities & Activities

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive student recruitment plan that aligns with the university's strategic goals and objectives, and incorporates innovative recruitment strategies.
    • Lead and manage the operations of the Office of Student Recruitment, ensuring that innovation is incorporated into all aspects of recruitment efforts.
    • Collaborate with academic units to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract a diverse student body, utilizing market research and data analysis to inform decision-making.
    • Oversee the development of marketing and communication plans to promote the university to prospective students, utilizing innovative communication methods and technologies.
    • Provide leadership and supervision to staff in the Office of Student Recruitment, encouraging and supporting the development of new and innovative ideas.
    • Develop and monitor budgets for the Office of Student Recruitment and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively, with a focus on funding innovative initiatives.
    • Stay current on trends and best practices in student recruitment and implement innovative strategies to enhance recruitment efforts.
    • Engage in outreach activities to build relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other organizations to promote the university and recruit prospective students, utilizing innovative outreach methods.
    • Serve as a member of the Enrollment Management team and work collaboratively with other enrollment management professionals to achieve the university's strategic goals and objectives.

    Background, Skills & Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in student outreach, recruitment, enrollment management or admissions processes and practices.
    • Bachelor's degree in a job-related field. Master's degree, preferred.
    • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
    • Extensive experience in strategic planning and executing outreach and recruitment programs and experience in collaboration with representatives from other colleges and universities is a plus.
    • Familiarity with marketing and recruiting for online programs.
    • High level of experience with Student Systems, Business Intelligence, and other similar products.
    • Effective communicator at all levels within a complex and culturally diverse organization, including top level senior management, Board members and external stakeholders and constituencies
    • Ability to demonstrate a strong orientation and commitment to customer service.
    • Project management expertise including change management in complex environments and implementing continuous quality improvement.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to direct and resolve ambiguous problems.
    • Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse user groups, including faculty and administrative staff, students, external resources and professional peers and success in maintaining high levels of user satisfaction in the provision of technology and related digital and support services.
    • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
