ABOUT THE ROLE


The Physician overseeing Patient Safety plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients receiving infusion therapy.

This role combines medical expertise with a focus on quality improvement, risk management, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

_Clinical Oversight_

Provide medical oversight and guidance to clinical staff, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to ensure the safe delivery of healthcare services.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement clinical protocols and best practices that enhance patient safety.

_Patient Safety_
Monitor and assess patient safety practices within the ambulatory clinic, identifying potential risks and implementing measures to mitigate them. Investigate adverse events, near misses, and patient complaints to identify root causes and develop strategies for prevention.

_Quality Improvement_
Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care provided in the clinic. Analyze clinical data, outcomes, and patient feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based interventions.

_Compliance and Regulations_
Ensure that the clinic complies with all relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and guidelines. Stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare laws and regulations and advise on necessary adjustments to clinic policies and procedures.

_Training and Education_
Provide training and education to clinic staff on patient safety principles, infection control, and other relevant topics. Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the clinic.

_Risk Management_
Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize liability and enhance patient safety. Work closely with legal and insurance teams to address potential legal issues and claims.

_Emergency Response_
Collaborate with the clinic's emergency response team to develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans. Participate in the response to medical emergencies within the clinic.

_Communication_
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing their concerns and ensuring they are informed about their care. Collaborate with other healthcare facilities and providers for seamless patient care coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree with active state licensure.
  • Board certification in internal medicine specialty.
  • Previous experience in clinical practice, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety principles and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to patientcentered care and continuous improvement.
