    Our client, one of the largest globalproviders of logistics in the beverage sector, consumer goods,clothing, machinery and petroleum products, has an immediateopening for a Customs Brokerage Manager in their Jamaica NY,office.

    JobDescription:

    Responsible for themanagement and successful growth and development of a strongCustoms Brokerage department. Coordinate, manage and oversee theCustoms Brokerage department to ensure the compliance of employeeswith the company policies, US Customs regulations, customer servicerequirements/procedures, protection of the company liabilities andthe day-to-day clearing of inbound cargo. Oversee, assist, trainand maintain responsibility for the preparation of customs entriesand overall workflow. Maintain a high level of professionalism,attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task varioustasks and responsibilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Organization, Management and Leadership of theCustoms Brokerage Department.
    • Monitor thebrokerage staff for efficiency, accuracy and productivity.
    • Identify strengths and weaknesses within theCustoms Brokerage Department and work to make brokerage supervisoron improvements where necessary.
    • Work veryclosely and in conjunction with the brokerage supervisor, conductregular meetings on expectations, transparencies, goals settings.
    • Train and mentor department members in areasof Customers Brokerage Regulations, HTS Codes, provide additionaltraining, instructions, re-distribution of work.
    • Monitor team performance against companystandards and department goals; in conjunction with the brokeragesupervisor
    • Regular audit of shipment documentsand accounting practices.
    • Monitor problemfiles and identify compliance issues.
    • Communicate with the Compliance department toimplement corrective action when necessary and outline correctiveactions.
    • Review through reporting timely andorderly workflow including release, billing and auditing.
    • Provide management guidelines, training andorganization to the department.
    • Showleadership abilities and initiative.
    • Adjustsystems which will allow the department to function moreeffectively and efficiently as a whole.
    • Outline responsibilities to each member of thedepartment and provide support as needed but in conjunction anddiscussions with the brokerage supervisor.
    • Work alongside the compliance Team to ensurenew accounts are on-boarded properly, POA s and Bonds are set up asper the company SOP s.
    • Conduct regularmeetings with staff members and monthly full department meetings inorder to communicate department goals and expectations. Workclosely with other departments and other offices to deliver a highlevel of service to our clients.
    • Prepareannual reviews for department staff.
    • Preparereports as related to staff productivity for the brokerage filecount and duty accuracy.
    • Identify problems andoffer resolutions on all Customs brokerage related matters alongwith guidance as necessary.
    • Perform otherduties as assigned.
    • Supervision, Control andOwnership of the Customs Brokerage Department as the branch spermit holder. Display excellent problem solving, technical andanalytical skills.
    • Provide management and thebrokerage department level support to ensure the regulatory andstatutory compliance of the company s import clearances filed onbehalf of our clients and as presented to US Customs and PGA.
    • Run, review and monitor all reports reflectingthe financial and compliance aspects of the entry such as dutiesdue verses paid on the Preliminary and Final Statements.
    • Responsible for review and submission of thePreliminary, Final ACH and PMS statements.
    • Ensure cross training is provided for thesefunctionalities within the department.
    • Conductrandom file audits and closely monitor files with high risk ofpenalty and/or enforcement of regulations. Ensure compliance withcompany s Import and Brokerage standard operating procedures.
    • Prepare and submit Post Entry Corrections ofbehalf of the Company and our Clients AND or delegate under theproper supervision
    • Assist in identifying andproviding training to staff on all changes to the CBP regulationsand roll out of new procedures when the government makes changes.
    • Monitor problem files and identify complianceissues. Communicate with the Compliance department to implementcorrective action when necessary.
    • Showleadership abilities and initiative. Work closely with otherdepartments and other offices to deliver a high level of service toour clients and act as the Key Account escalation manager toassigned accounts
    • Work closely and inconjunction with the brokerage supervisor to ensure efficiency inall processes within the company and department.
    • Work with the Compliance Team to ensure newaccounts are on-boarded properly.
    • Conductregular meetings in order to communicate compliance goals andexpectations. Collaborate in preparation of individual performancereviews, disciplinary actions, coaching and staff cross trainingperiodically where required and assist with resolution of issues.
    • Communicate with U.S. Customs, PGA s as neededand manage all the communication to and from CBP act as the liaisonofficer between US Customs, Brokerage Department and Compliancedepartments.
    • Perform other duties as assignedand reports to the LCHB REGIONAL DIRECTOR - CEO

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor s Degree is preferred
    • Must have and maintain an active CustomsBrokerage License
    • 5+ years Customs Brokerageimport experience with an extensive and broad range of commodities.Familiarity with ADD/ CVD, FDA, EPA, F & W, CBMA, FAA, TTB
    • 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory/management role within a Customs Brokerage department
    • Employee must have basic user knowledge ofcomputer programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook
    • Experience with Editrade is a plus
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbaland written
    • Excellent team-building skills andability to train staff
    • Ability to delegateworkload to team
    • Strategic planning experience
    • Strong organization skills and ability tomultitask
    • Proven professionalism andreliability
    • Strong mathematical skills, suchas appropriately add and compute fees, percentages, taxes, currencyconversions, weight, cube, measures, U.S. Customs and other agencyfees.
