Great Expectations

It’s wondrous how sometimes we, humans, dream profusely, aspire high, work hard for the sake of our lives and livelihoods and for the well-being of our children. Out of human traits, we act either deliberately or unintentionally. But, in the making of our lives and careers, we come up with accomplishments and set great expectations.

We cherish our aspirations when we dearly achieve them. Sometimes, we blame others or our own destinies when we falter or encounter misfortunes. Instead of whining, shouldn’t we ponder on our own shortcomings, misguided deeds or situational hardships?

Someone’s success in life through righteous means can be an inspiration to us. Sometimes, a little inspiration works, and we become successful the same ways. But, what it means when we follow them and face failures? Life, after all, is an ordeal, and we have to persevere and reflect to reach acceptable conclusions. Either it could be our lack of confidence or consistency of our efforts. Indeed, where there is faultless faith, there is beaming hope. And when there are hopes, impossible becomes possible.

Oftentimes, we human beings make our lives difficult and tiresome between the nuances of meddling fears and uncertain expectations. 

Let’s say, for example at workplaces, employees who reach retirement age and yet remain reluctant to resign or accept ethical termination. Perhaps, rather being concerned about declining age and growing frailty, they worry themselves with scores of lingering dreams, unfinished commitments and falter with blurred longings to continue employment along with their expectations.

Ah, with all the desires and temptations in this wrinkled world, perhaps we, out of realization and by exceeding levels of greediness and expectations, aimlessly traverse on tough pathways and toil for abundance. And, with countless dreams, we stretch our expectations for passing comforts. In fact, when we become unaware of simple realities, our lives drift away the truth.

Why do we burden our lives with voluminous greed, baseless doubts and unwanted expectations? It’s simple to live stress-free life based on few key ingredients, and that’s flawless faith in the Almighty Lord, unfaltering patience to gather strength and good hopes to keep life on the move.

If someone is fortunate, wealthy or famous, then why should we strain our hearts with jealousy? It’s far better to compose our lives with upright passions and good hopes. In fact, to be passionate with sincere traits will boost our aspirations and actions, and then, when all is done, we have to be optimistic and persevering, with great hopes.

And then, in the many phases of life, we come across unfair ordeals, unfavorable circumstances and hurtful happenings. What if we aren’t treated star performers in warrant of our bright performance, our modest requests for pay raise get refused or are less privileged even after striving with years of sincere service. With no appreciation, encouragement and recognition, our expectations shatters and this leads to employee disengagement.

In such times, a shimmering ray of hope without unmindful haste is enough to enliven our lives. Besides patience and hopes, even cheery attitude paves way for immense opportunities in life. A lively, righteous heart makes one’s life more exemplar and worthwhile. On the contrary, a sullen, depressed face leads one’s life to nowhere.

In  truth, our human life is all composed of strengths and frailties. Imagine how life resembles when it is devoid of all goodness, constancy and truthfulness. Obviously, to realize the essence of human life, we need good, inspiring lessons soaked in truth, teachings and sayings that are like glowing lanterns, sensible wisdom that can cleanse our minds and hearts. 

Perhaps, with true perception, it's better that we recall our past to admit our follies and failings, chisel our present with rank actions and virtues and harbor good expectations for our future.
