Title: Accounting Specialist
Department: Business Operations

Position Summary: The Accounting Specialist assists with month-end close, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, asset register verification, and is the primary point of contact for vendors and internal BRAVE departments and stakeholders to successfully complete the accounts payable ; The position oversees all aspects of accounts payable including invoice and payment processing, staff expense reimbursement, and resolving invoice/payment

Profile: This person is an organized self-starter with a passion for details and ; An ability to enact improvements and process enhancements in a growing church is ; Additionally, the Accounts Payable Specialist should understand the wider accounting process and be able to anticipate the financial statement implications of the A/P ;

Position Responsibilities:

• Vendor setup and maintenance
• Interaction with other departments and vendors to ensure timely payment
• Schedule processing of regular disbursements to vendors and monitor status
• Purchase orders entered, reviewed, and monitored
• Posting of ledger entries
• Reconciliations - banks, debit card, and other accounts as needed
• Complete month end close processes in a timely manner
• Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as needed
• Special projects to support finance and accounting department
• Support audit requests
• Coordinate with other ministries ensuring mission accomplishment
• Promote improvements and upgrades to current

Qualifications:

• Detail oriented
• Financial statement understanding
• Working knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping
• Formal training or technical degree with certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting and related fields with accounts payable emphasis preferred
• Experience with accounting and accounts payable systems (Xero and preferred) along with intermediate to advanced Excel skills helpful
